REMARKS
|
Sponges are one of the most ancient animals inhabiting the reef. They comprise the major part of the diet of the endangered hawksbill turtle.

For many years Scientists thought sponges were plants becasue they could not work how how they feed.
|
Sponges filter the equivalent of their own volume of water every 4-20 seconds (up to 5,000 litres per day).
